CHICAGO – DePaul head coach Tracie Adix-Zins announced this week that Payton Viles, Audrey Tumbarello, Riley Pool, Ariana Rodriguez, Jules Gomez and Nicole Sullivan have completed all necessary paperwork and will join the softball program starting with the 2021 season.
Payton Viles comes to Chicago from Chino Hills High School. The Chino, Calif. native is a force at third base and plays club for the Cal Cruisers.
"We're very excited about signing Payton Viles to the 2020 class," said Adix-Zins. "She comes from a great softball family and has a great understanding of the DePaul tradition. She makes pitchers work when in the box and will help make an impact at third base.
Audrey Tumbarello joins us from Corona Del Mar High School. The Newport, Calif. native contributes to the roster as a pitcher and utility player and also plays club for the Cal Cruisers.
"Audrey will give us a lot of options as a player being a pitcher and a positional player. She does a great job spinning the ball and keeping batters off balance but also can play other defensive positions which just adds versatility."
Riley Pool joins the Blue Demons at first base and as a catcher. From Scottsburg, Ind., Pool plays softball at Scottsburg high school and plays club for the Indiana Magic Gold.
"Riley plays for one of the premier Midwest travel teams and has caught for a plethora of high level pitchers. We are very excited to sign her to the 2020 class and excited for the power she will provide in the box and the leadership behind the plate."
Ariana Rodriguez joins us from Crest Hill, Ill. where she attends Joliet Township High School. She also plays for the Chicago Cheetahs at second base and as an outfielder.
"Ariana is another player who brings a wealth of knowledge of the DePaul system having an older sister already go through the program. She brings a different look from the left side of the box and will create chaos on the base path."
Jules Gomez adds to the pitching staff at DePaul and comes to us from Tinley Park High School. The Oak Forest, Ill. native plays club softball for the Orland Park Sparks.
"We are very excited about what Jules brings to the team in the 2020 class. She has a lot of power as a pitcher and it will be great to see her grow and how she will fit within our pitching staff."
Nicole Sullivan adds talent in the circle and at short stop. The Fairfax, Iowa native attends Mount Vernon High School and plays club for the Southeast Iowa All Stars.
"Nicole gives us a lot of versatility in what she is able to do on the field. She can play short stop but also hits 62-63 on the radar gun when pitching. She is a hard working kid so it will be fun to see where she finds a spot in the lineup next season."
