Blue Demons clash with unbeaten Wisconsin and one-loss Denver this weekend
CHICAGO – It has been one tough challenge after another for DePaul women's tennis early in the dual-match season, and this weekend promises more of the same.
The Blue Demons travel to the Mile High City to engage a pair of talented tennis teams that have combined for an 11-1 start to the dual season.
DePaul's No. 1 player Keisha Clousing has been at her best and has held her own against nationally ranked opponents. The senior from Wheaton Warrenville South is 5-2 in dual competition and brings a five-match winning streak into Denver Tennis Park.
Clousing has also anchored the doubles group, combining with Lenka Antonijevic to go 4-2 in doubles play. The combo of Milica Tesic and Maddie Yergler is 2-0 and Marija Jovicic/Tesic is 1-0.
Coach Mark Ardizzone's team opens the weekend with a 2 p.m. Saturday match against unbeaten Wisconsin (6-0). Behind No. 1 Sara Castellano (6-0) and No. 2 Lexi Keberle (6-0), the Badgers have taken down Omaha, Colorado State, Illinois-Chicago, Marquette, Iowa State and Northern Illinois.
On Sunday, the Blue Demons will tackle host Denver with first serve at 3 p.m. The Pioneers have defeated Oregon, New Mexico, Brigham Young, Colorado and Northern Colorado with their only setback coming to No. 7 Pepperdine. Denver has won four in a row.
