Women's Tennis Stymied by Xavier

Blue Demons return to Chicago for home finale next weekend
CINCINATTI, Ohio -- Sunday afternoon posed a big test for the DePaul Women's tennis team as the Blue Demons traveled to Cincinnati to face BIG EAST foe, Xavier.
The Musketeers (17-2, 7-0 BIG EAST) entered Sunday's contest winners of 14 straight and boasting an unbeaten conference record. DePaul (5-10, 3-1 BIG EAST) couldn't quite slow down Xavier, as the Blue Demons fell 6-1 at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
Xavier jumped out to a quick start to claim the doubles point with wins at the No. 1, 2, and 3 positions.
The Musketeers went on to clinch the match with straight set victories at the No. 3 and No. 1 spots.
Milica Tesic proved to be the bright spot for DePaul as the senior took down Hunter Roper at No. 5, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Teammate Aspasia Avgeri forced a tiebreaker at the No. 2 spot, but fell just short to Sophia Abelson, 5-7, 6-4, 10-8.
DePaul returns to Lincoln Park for their home finale next weekend when the Blue Demons welcome BIG EAST opponents Seton Hall and St. John's.
