Men’s throwers finish third two-day meet; earn multiple season-best throws

CHICAGO – Taking in the sunshine before snow arrives tomorrow, the Blue Demon throwers wrapped up the two-day Benedictine Relays with the men placing third and the women in 10^th. The meet saw over 25 teams in both the men's and women's competition. Dominic Marshall, Kyle Hedge and Dylan Marshall earned podium-topping performances in their respective events.

Kicking off the first event with a throw that was good for gold, junior Dominic Marshall earned first place for his 49.03-meter hammer performance. Fellow DePaul thrower Alex Murray set a new personal best in the same event with a 45.01-meter finish.

Continuing the winning momentum for the men was senior Kyle Hedge who earned the top spot on the podium in the shot put competition. His 15.14-meter throw set a new season best for the Woodstock native. Teammate Isaac Jimenez (14.97m) also set a season best with his performance in the competition. Earning a spot in the top five, sophomore Alex Murray set a new personal best in shot put with a distance of 14.53 meters.

Rounding out his new PRs, Murray also set a new mark in the discus throw with a 43.69-meter finish that would land him earn him bronze. Taking home silver was Hedge with an impressive 44.71-meter distance that would set his own season best.

On the women's side, junior Dylan Marshall threw a distance of 40.50 meters in the javelin to claim the top spot. Her mark would put her ahead of the second-place finisher by over 2.5 meters.

Rounding out podium performances for the women were Emily Eller (13.93m) and Jade Gates (12.58m) in the shot put and Rebecca Chouinard (52.16m) in the hammer throw.
