Blue Demons face Creighton tomorrow in regular reason finale

OMAHA, Neb. -- The DePaul women's tennis team turned in a gutsy performance on Saturday afternoon en route to a 4-3 defeat of Villanova on the courts of the Hansoom Tennis Center at Creighton University.

The Blue Demons got off to a fast start to clinch the crucial doubles point. Marija Jovicic and Milica Tesic teamed up at No. 2 for a 6-1 win over the Wildcats' Lexi DeNucci and Kaylan Rotman. Keisha Clousing and Lenka Antonijevic secured the doubles point for DePaul in a 6-1 victory at the No. 1 spot over Claudia Althans and Lindsey Evans.

Clousing continued her strong play in singles action to put the Blue Demons up 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 performance over DeNucci at No. 1.

Aspasia Avgeri took care of business at the No. 2 position over Althans, 7-6, 6-3.

After Villanova took matches at No. 4, No. 3, and No. 5, all eyes turned to court 6 with the match knotted 3-3.

Rookie Maddie Yergler sealed the deal for the Blue Demons with a grueling 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 triumph over Olivia Kapp.

DePaul will look to sweep the final weekend of the regular season when the Blue Demons face Creighton on Sunday at 11 a.m.
