Women’s Tennis Advances to BIG EAST Semifinals

Blue Demons face winner of Marquette and Villanova
CAYCE, S.C. – Despite severe rain that cause quarterfinal action to be suspended on Friday afternoon, No. 2 seed DePaul advanced onto the BIG EAST Women's Tennis Championship semifinals after a 4-0 victory over No. 7 Creighton on Saturday.
The Blue Demons (9-11) will face the winner of No. 3 Marquette and No. 6 Villanova at 8 a.m. CT in Sunday's semifinals at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center.
When action resumed on Saturday morning, the Blue Demons wasted no time in clinching the doubles point. Keisha Clousing and Lenka Antonijevic powered past Ashley Ishmiura and Sarah Wilcox 6-3 at the No. 1 spot, while duo of Aspasia Avgeri and Alina Kuzmenkova clinched the doubles point for DePaul with a 6-4 victory at No. 3
In singles action, Milica Tesic sparked the Blue Demons with a 6-0, 6-1 straight set win at No. 5 over Claire Embree.
Marija Jovicic took down Creighton's Erin Epperson at the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-2 to lift the Blue Demons to 3-0.
Rookie Maddie Yergler clinched the match for DePaul at the No. 6 position with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Gabby O'Connor.
