Team nets academic award and Malonga named to Honors Court

CHICAGO – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) recently announced its annual academic awards with the Blue Demons earning the Team Academic Award and Jason Malonga being named to the Honors Court.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes outstanding efforts in the classroom each season. The NABC honors the top academic student-athletes for all three NCAA divisions and two NAIA divisions. To qualify for the NABC Honors Court, athletes must be junior or senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year. This season marks Malonga's first appearance on the honor roll.

The Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2018-19 season. DePaul was one of five BIG EAST programs to earn the team honor joining Butler, Creighton, Seton Hall and Villanova.
