CHICAGO - The DePaul softball program hosts its first annual Hit-A-Thon at Cacciatore Stadium. The event is set for Saturday, Sept. 28 at 9:30 a.m. and will double as the program's fall alumni day.
"We are very excited for the first year of the Hit-A-Thon and what it can mean for the future of DePaul softball," said head coach Tracie Adix-Zins. "We pride ourselves on being a competitive and relevant program and an event like this will continue to provide our student-athletes with top-of-the-line technology to continue the legacy of DePaul softball.
"Having the alumnae be a part of this adds to the tradition of family here and gives our current student-athletes the platform to meet and interact with those who came before and help put DePaul on the map. I cannot wait to see how it all unfolds and how this event will continue to grow."
The DePaul softball coaching staff created this event as a chance for fans and alumnae to stay involved and contribute to the continued success of the program. Pledge your favorite Blue Demon, who will be allowed ten swings. The longest hit (per feet) will serve as the amount to be donated.
Donations will help the program to continue traditions like the periodic trip to Europe where they can walk in the footsteps of St. Vincent de Paul and immerse themselves in the history of DePaul's Vincentian mission.
Pledging can be done online or by contacting DePaul Athletics Development at (773) 325-7240. Additionally, fans can make a direct gift to the program through DePaul's online giving page.
