CHICAGO -- The DePaul softball program is set to host its second annual Hit-A-Thon at Cacciatore Stadium. The event is set for Friday, Oct. 16 at 9-00 a.m. CT.
Â
"The hit-a-thon is an event that isn't just fun for our team to compete against each other it's an event that can have substantial impact on what we can provide our team with and keep us relevant with local competition." said Head Coach Tracie Adix-Zins
Â
"Especially in a year like we've had with COVID-19 and knowing that we are going to be impacted in some way shape or form, the Hit-A-Thon keeps us on track to continue to provide top notch gear and equipment as well as technology to our team. We want to provide the best student-athlete experience we can and the Hit-A-Thon really helps us do that."
The DePaul softball coaching staff created the Hit-A-Thon event in 2019 as a chance for fans and alumnae to stay engaged and contribute to the continued success of the program. Pledge your favorite Blue Demon, who will be allowed ten swings. The longest hit (per feet) will serve as the amount to be donated.
Â
Donations will help the program to continue traditions like the periodic Vincentian Heritage tour in Europe where student-athletes can walk in the footsteps of St. Vincent de Paul. Funds raised will also cover other travel costs and program expenses.
 Â
Pledging can be done online or by contacting DePaul Athletics Development at (773) 325-7240. Additionally, fans can make a direct gift to the program through DePaul's online giving page.Â
