Carly Alvers, Baylee Cosgrove, Addison Talbot and Anna Wohlers sign National Letter of Intent
CHICAGO – Head softball coach Tracie Adix-Zins announced Friday that four new Blue Demons including, Carly Alvers, Baylee Cosgrove, Addison Talbot, and Anna Wohlers have signed their National Letter of Intent and will join DePaul's roster beginning in the fall of 2021.
Â
"We have a great class with four Midwest players. We want to continue to pull talent from the area and this class sums it up. We are very excited to sign them all and see what they'll bring to our 2021/2022 roster. They have a lot of athleticism and versatility to help us in multiple positions and we're very excited" said Adix-Zins of the four signees.
Â
The Blue Demons welcome Carly Alvers from nearby Mokena, Ill. where she attended Lincoln Way Central High School. Alvers is an all-around utility player with experience at numerous positions in the infield. Alvers and her Sparks Premier club program recently finished second at the PGF Qualifier and earned a bid to Huntington Beach, Calif. to play in the summer of 2021. Â
Â
"Carly has versatility to play multiple positions for us. She's a hard nose worker and continues to get better each year."
Â
A threat at shortstop and catcher, Baylee Cosgrove, heads to Lincoln Park from Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School in Loda, Ill. Cosgrove joins the Blue Demons after being a three-sport athlete for the Panthers earning letters in volleyball, basketball and softball. Cosgrove spent time with Peoria Sluggers before joining Premier Fastpitch to close out her travel ball career.
Â
"Baylee brings a lot of athleticism to the 2021 class with the ability to play shortstop and catch. We're excited to have her round out our athletic class."
Â
Addison Talbot lands in Chicago from the nearby southwest suburbs of Bourbonnais, Ill. Talbot is a multitalented infielder from the Beverly Bandits club program. In her first two seasons of action at Bradley-Bourbonnais, Talbot proved to be a force at the plate with a career batting average of .387 to go with 63 hits, 40 RBI's and three home runs.
Â
"Addison is another local player that brings versatility in the field and a lefty bat and we're excited to see how she challenges her teammates."Â
Â
A Davenport, Iowa native, Anna Wohlers, provides the Blue Demons depth behind the plate. Wohlers and her Assumption High School program claimed three consecutive Class 3A state titles and posted an overall record of 125-6 over that span. Iowa Preps named Wohlers one of the top utility players in the 2021 class. Â
Â
"Anna comes to us from Davenport, Iowa and is a big lefty catcher. We're very excited about her joining the team and what she's going to bring to our lineup next year."
