Kizelbasheva, Antonijevic, Yergler key 4-2 win over Michigan State
CHICAGO – Anytime you can beat a Big Ten team, you've had a good day.
DePaul remained unbeaten in the dual-match season with a 4-2 decision over Michigan State for the Blue Demons' third win in a row.
The doubles tandems of Lenka Antonijevic and Yuliya Kizelbasheva plus Aspasia Avgeri and Maddie Yergler locked up the first point with a sweep of the Spartans. On the season, DePaul doubles is undefeated at 8-0.
Kizelbasheva won her singles match 7-5, 6-3 over MSU's Samantha Memije 7-5, 6-3. Her doubles partner Antonijevic duplicated that with a 6-3, 7-6 (6) victory over Nicole Stephens.
Yergler scored the clinching point for the Blue Demons with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 decision over Tia Murkerjee.
It was another impressive singles performance as coach Marisa Arce & Co. are now 14-4 in the dual season.
Next weekend will provide a challenge for the Blue Demons with a match Friday at Wisconsin and Saturday against Denver in Madison. Both opponents advanced to the NCAA tournament last year.
