Blue Demons fall 5-2 to 2019 NCAA tournament team Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. – After opening the dual season with three consecutive victories, DePaul lost for the first time on Friday.
Despite winning the doubles point and a singles match, the Blue Demons dropped a 5-2 decision to a Wisconsin team that advanced to the NCAA tournament last season.
It was a promising beginning when No. 1 doubles team Lenka Antonijevic and Yuliya Kizelbasheva knocked off the Badgers top duo 6-3.
Hristina Djokic and Marija Jovicic came through with the clinching match at No. 3 doubles to give their team an early 1-0 lead.
But Wisconsin responded by winning five of the six singles matches on its Nielsen Tennis Stadium home court . The Blue Demons did score a point when Maddie Yergler at No. 6 defeated Miruna Tudor6-7, 6-3, 6-2.
DePaul will face another NCAA tournament team on Sunday in Denver at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
