Georgetown owns nation's no. 1 ranking after 7-0 start
CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer takes on the top-ranked team in the nation on Saturday, traveling to Washington, D.C. to battle the No. 1 Georgetown Hoyas. The Blue Demons are looking to improve to 6-3 and claim their second-straight BIG EAST victory. Saturday's match is set for a noon CT kickoff and will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports presented by SoFi.
Georgetown is off to a 7-0 start this season after falling in the NCAA Quarterfinals to eventual champion, Marshall, last season. When DePaul and Georgetown last met, the Blue Demons battled to a scoreless draw versus then-no. 5 Hoyas at Wish Field on Oct. 4, 2019. The draw came in a season that saw the Hoyas post a 7-0-2 BIG EAST record and claim the 2019 NCAA Championship.
DePaul enters Saturday's match after dropping a road affair with Northwestern, 2-0. The Blue Demons claimed a 2-1 win over UConn in the BIG EAST opener last weekend behind goals by Nathaniel Enriquez and Marek Gonda. The scoreless output on Wednesday was just the second time the Blue Demons have been shut out all season.
The Blue Demons look to improve to 3-1 on the road this season after trips to Madison, Wis. and Peoria, Ill. both ended in victories earlier this fall. The Blue Demons' 2-0 loss at Northwestern was their first road defeat of the season. With the match in the nation's capital resuming BIG EAST action for the Blue Demons, DePaul could improve to 2-0 in BIG EAST play for the first time in the Plotkin era.
