3.7 team GPA ranks 11th amongst all Division I programs
CHICAGO – DePaul softball was recognized for its academic prowess on Tuesday afternoon as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced All-America Scholar Athlete distinctions as well as Team GPA rankings from the 2020-2021 academic year.
As a team, the Blue Demons ranked 11th amongst Division I programs with a cumulative GPA of 3.7. Fellow BIG EAST programs Villanova and Butler also tallied a minimum 3.0 GPA to qualify for team recognition.
17 student-athletes earned NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete distinction for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher last academic year. The 2020-21 honorees include Pearl Barroso, Jessica Cothern, Krista Dalgarn, Grace Frazier, Maranda Gutierrez, Skylor Hilger, Brooke Johnson, Payton Lundberg, Tori Meyer, Gabby O'Riley, Kate Polucha, Riley Pool, Zoie Rettig, Ariana Rodriguez, Angela Scalzitti, Nicole Sullivan and Audrey Tumbarello.
DePaul went 25-11 a season ago including a 13-1 BIG EAST mark to claim the conference regular season title for the seventh time in program history.
