Blue Demons and Musketeers Square off on Thursday

The BIG EAST match kicks off at noon CT
CHICAGO – DePaul women's soccer is headed to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on the Xavier Musketeers on Thursday, March 10 at noon CT at XU Soccer Complex. The Blue Demons (1-2, 0-2 BIG EAST) hit the road after a defeat in the home opener at Wish Field on Sunday afternoon against Marquette.
DePaul controlled most of the contest on Sunday but could not break through to light up the scoreboard. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles capitalized, scoring a pair of second-half goals to claim the match in Lincoln Park. The Blue Demons are searching for their first conference win of the 2020-21 campaign.
Meanwhile, Xavier (2-2, 1-0 BIG EAST) won its BIG EAST opener over Creighton on Sunday, 1-0. The Musketeers winning goal came in the second half on an executed penalty kick. Xavier won the BIG EAST regular season and conference championships during the fall of 2019, advancing to the squad's first NCAA Tournament since 2000.
In the all-time matchup between the Blue Demons and Musketeers, DePaul holds a 4-2-1 edge. However, the Musketeers claimed the 2019 edition of the matchup, earning a 2-1 win in Cincinnati on October 27, 2019. DePaul returns to Lincoln Park to host Creighton on Sunday, March 14 after the midweek trip to Cincinnati.
