Avarie Evans-Allen ties career-high with 14 kills
CHICAGO – DePaul volleyball showed resolve and resiliency in a 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 26-24, 20-25, 15-9) win over Iowa State on Friday afternoon at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
Senior middle blocker Avarie Evans-Allen led the way for the Blue Demons tying a career-high with 14 kills while hitting at a .524 clip.
Jill Pressly added 13 kills while Donna Brown and Allison Dennemann notched nine apiece bolster the DePaul attack.
Rachel Krasowski recorded a match-high 22 digs while Dennemann added 14. Molly Murrihy tallied 27 assists and Phoenix Lee dishes out 23.
"What a gritty, 'bring your own guts,' type of team win over a physical Iowa State squad" said Head Coach Marie Zidek.
"What stood out was how our team was able to come together and win the 'non-statted' hustle play when it mattered most. What also stood out was when the going got tough, people stepped up and made the play for each other" Zidek added.
"So proud of this group. As we preach, you are what you repeatedly do. We were a true team today that supported one another and shepherded one another through in all of the toughest moments."
