Iscra and Ramadan Earn BIG EAST Weekly Awards

Timmy Iscra earns offensive player of the week while Omar Ramadan collects freshman of the week honors
CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer claimed a pair of this week's BIG EAST weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Senior Timmy Iscra earned offensive player of the week honors while freshman Omar Ramadan was tabbed freshman of the week by the conference.
The tandem of Iscra and Ramadan accounted for two crucial goals in DePaul's wins over Xavier and Creighton this week. On Wednesday in Cincinnati, Ramadan lined up a free kick with DePaul trailing 2-1. Ramadan swung the free kick attempt into the box and Iscra was able to head home the equalizing tally. Iscra's goal was the third of his career and first since 2017. DePaul went on to win in overtime, 3-2.Â
On Saturday against Creighton, the duo connected again, this time to give DePaul the lead. With less than 15 minutes remaining and the score locked at one, Ramadan flung in a cross on a corner kick that found Iscra at the back post. Iscra converted from point-blank range, scoring the game-winning goal to lift the Blue Demons to their second straight BIG EAST victory.Â
Iscra delivered a pair of crucial goals this week while also anchoring the DePaul back line that allowed only three goals total between a pair of BIG EAST games. He has now scored goals in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. The Northbrook native is the first Blue Demon to earn first BIG EAST offensive player of the week since September 2019.Â
Ramadan's presence in the DePaul midfield allowed the Blue Demons to orchestrate plenty of chances in both conference wins. Ramadan's recognition as conference freshman of the week is the first for a DePaul player since September 2017.
