
Sullivan Earns BIG EAST Player and Freshman of the Week

Natalie Halvorson named to Weekly Honor Roll
CHICAGO – After a breakout weekend, Nicole Sullivan has been named the BIG EAST Player and Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. Senior pitcher Natalie Halvorson landed on the Weekly Honor Roll.
In a 3-1 week for the Blue Demons, Sullivan led the BIG EAST in batting average at a .625 mark to go along with a 1.500 slugging percentage. The freshman third baseman also topped the BIG EAST in RBIs with six and home runs with two. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native reached based at a .667 clip and totaled 12 bases on the week.
Sullivan posted a staggering .833 average in the weekend series sweep over Creighton. In game two of Saturday's doubleheader, the rookie was a triple away from the cycle as she went three-for-three including the first home run of her career. Sunday's series finale saw Sullivan blast a grand slam over the left field wall to give DePaul an eight-run advantage after four innings.
In the weekend series against the Bluejays, Halvorson went 2-0 in two appearances in the circle. The senior went five and two-thirds innings in game two on Saturday and allowed just one earned run on three hits while throwing eight strikeouts. In an inning and a third of relief on Sunday, Halvorson allowed one base hit and no runs crossed as the Blue Demons secured a 10-2 run rule victory. Halvorson is now 7-4 on the season with 52 strikeouts.
DePaul sits first atop the BIG EAST standings at 10-1 and has amassed an overall record of 19-9.
