Jessica Cothern Earns NFCA All-Region Honors

Catcher closes out career with All-Great Lakes Third Team honors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – DePaul senior Jessica Cothern added another accolade to her resume on Thursday as the catcher earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Great Lakes Region honors, as announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.
Cothern becomes the 13th Blue Demon to earn All-Great Lakes honors since 2009 and the first since Pat Moore and Morgan Greenwood were selected in 2018.
The Plainfield, Ill. native picked up All-Region Third Team honors after leading the Blue Demons to an overall record of 25-11 and 13-1 in the BIG EAST en route to the conference regular season title.
Cothern paced the squad with a .373 batting average, .618 slugging percentage and .458 on-base percentage. In her final campaign with the Blue Demons, Cothern totaled a team-high 38 hits and 63 total bases to go along with 21 RBI and six home runs. Behind the plate, Cothern caught 13 runners stealing in 17 attempts while accounting for 151 putouts and one double play.
In 2021, Cothern was one of five unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team and has earned all-conference honors on four occasions. Last weekend, the senior was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team for the second time in her career after notching four hits and a homer in two games.
Cothern, the 2017 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, closes out her DePaul career a three-time conference champion and four-time BIG EAST All-Academic team honoree.
