CHICAGO – DePaul volleyball assistant coach Nick Vogel has been selected to coach the USA National Team Development Program (NTDP) with training set to take place from July 18-23.
Â
Vogel will welcome over 75 U17 and U18 athletes to the Volleyball National Training Center in Anaheim, Calif. for the five day training block.
Â
"I am deeply honored to have been chosen to participate in the training of these elite young women who are the future of our USA Women's National Team" said Vogel. "Team USA has always held a place very deep in my heart and the ability to work with this program while the senior squad is off in Tokyo chasing Gold adds a level of significance that is really special."
Â
"I'm extremely excited to get out to Anaheim, to the same gym where countless Olympians have trained, to work hard every day making each other better. "
Â
NTDP replaces the USA Volleyball High Performance program. Since the 1990s, USAV High Performance has identified, evaluated, trained and developed young athletes to build a sustainable pipeline of future Olympians and Paralympians. Volleyball has flourished into the most popular high school team sport for girls and the fastest-growing high school sport for boys in the U.S.
Â
The NTDP will increase the opportunities for athletes to be seen and evaluated and to develop within the USAV National Team system.
Â
Vogel previously represented the United States as a player on the Men's National Team where he competed in the 2014 FIVB World Championship, the 2014 USAV Cup, and the 2011 Pan American Games.
