DePaul Primed for Fast Start Sunday Against Georgetown

BIG EAST matchup tips at 2:00 p.m. at Wintrust Arena
CHICAGO – One of the toughest stretches of the season comes to an end Sunday when DePaul plays its third game in five days.
It's been one thing after another with game day---recovery day---game day---recovery day---game day.
It wouldn't be a surprise if a little fatigue set in during Sunday's BIG EAST matchup against Georgetown that tips at 2 p.m. at Wintrust Arena.
Coach Doug Bruno didn't have an opportunity to spread out the minutes this week and give some of his key players a little extra rest.
The Blue Demons exerted themselves to the max last Wednesday at Marquette in an overtime loss that saw them almost overcome a 25-point first half.
Two days later, they needed another strong second-half surge to prevail against a Villanova team that led by three at halftime and kept it close until the latter stages of the fourth quarter.
A fast start ignited by affirmative finishes at the rim along with some three-point swishes would go a long way towards generating a contagious offensive rhythm.
Bruno's beloved "DePaulball" is at its best when the ball and bodies are in perpetual motion as teammates set up one another for wide-open jumpers or backdoor layups.
When that happens, this Chicago team which led the nation in scoring and total assists heading into Saturday is apt to quickly run off eight or 10 consecutive points.
It's the basketball equivalent of a blitzing defense in football that discombobulates the opposing team and tilts the balance in your favor.
Sonya Morris (17.3 points a game and third in the nation in field goals) and Lexi Held (14.5 points, fifth in the nation in total assists) are explosive difference-makers equally adept at setting up teammates for easy baskets or aggressively getting their own shot.
Deja Church (13.9 points) and Darrione Rogers (10.6 points) are threats to go off at any time while freshman forward Aneesah Morrow attacks the offensive boards with reckless abandon while averaging 18.7 points and 12.1 rebounds.
Morrow leads the nation in double-doubles with 12, is second in the country in total rebounds and third in offensive rebounds per game.
Whenever one or two of the starters is stuck in a rut, Bruno can confidently call upon Dee Bekelja and Kierra Collier to rectify the situation.
DePaul (13-4, 5-1 BIG EAST) could be catching Georgetown (6-5, 1-2) at just about the right time. A combination of the Christmas holidays and postponed games left the Hoyas playing their first game in a month on Friday and losing 68-32 at Marquette.
The rusty Georgetown attack shot 23.1 percent from the field and scored just four points in the second quarter and five in the fourth quarter.
Milan Bolden-Morris tops the Hoyas in scoring at 12.5 points a game and also leads the team in three-pointers, three-point percentage and free throw percentage.
