Kizelbasheva and Martin pick up singes victories
CHICAGO – After falling behind 2-0, DePaul battled back only to come up a little short in Sunday's matchup at XS Tennis.
The Blue Demons fell 4-3 to Army West Point, evening their record to 1-1 in the early stages of the dual-match season.
Coach Marisa Arce's team had opened the dual season on Friday with a victory over Bradley.
After Army claimed the doubles point and won the opening singles skirmish, Arce & Co. answered back.
Yuliya Kizelbasheva came through with a 7-5, 6-0 triumph over Army's best Stephanie Dolehide at No. 1 singles.
At No. 5 singles, Kaya Rand bested Carolyn Ahn 6-4, 4-6, 4-3.
Valentina Martin put up a point for DePaul with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Sophie McKenzie.
The Blue Demons return to XS Tennis on Sunday for a 1:30 p.m. match against Wisconsin.
