DePaul Volleyball Travels to Take On Butler

Blue Demons look to make late season run beginning on Sunday afternoon
CHICAGO – DePaul volleyball will close out the month of October with a trip to Indianapolis to take on Butler inside Hinkle Fieldhouse on Sunday, Oct. 30. First serve is scheduled for Noon CT with the action streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network carried by FloSports.

Demon Doings: DePaul is looking to jump back in the win column and kick start a late season push to earn a BIG EAST Tournament berth. The Blue Demons sit at 7-16 and 3-8 in BIG EAST play with seven matches remaining. Junior outside hitter Jill Pressly has led the way offensively with 3.63 kills per set in league games to rank fifth in the conference while freshman outside Taylor Underwood and senior right side have chipped in 2.84 and 2.51 kills per set, respectively. Rachel Krasowski has picked up 205 digs to average 4.77 per set and sit in second among the league's defensive specialists.

Scouting Butler: Butler is coming off a 3-0 loss to Marquette on Friday night. The Bulldogs enter Sunday's match 11-12 on the season and 5-6 in BIG EAST action while sitting in sixth place in the standings. Offensively, Mariah Grunze is averaging a team-best 3.21 kills per set while Amina Shackleford is putting up 2.89. Libero Jaymeson Kinley is leading the league with 5.48 digs per set while middle blocker Marisa Guisti has totaled 1.10 blocks per set through 67 sets this season.

Series Stuff: Butler leads the overall series 21-12, including a 3-1 victory over the Blue Demons on Sept. 23 at McGrath-Phillips Arena. DePaul has won three of the last four meetings.Â

Last Time Out: DePaul is coming off a five-set loss to No. 16 Marquette on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The Blue Demons claimed the first set 32-30 before dropping the next two. A 25-19 fourth set victory forced a decisive fifth set where Marquette clinched the win. Pressly led the way with her 12th double-double of the season on a match-high 21 kills and 10 digs. Nelson added 13 kills while Krasowski picked up 21 digs.

Up Next: The Blue Demons will return home to play four of their last six regular season matches at McGrath-Phillips Arena. Villanova and Georgetown are scheduled to visit Lincoln Park Nov. 4-5 before DePaul embarks on their final East Coast road swing of the season with a trip to Connecticut and Providence Nov.12-13.
