DePaul doubles team earns big win over tough west coast opponents
SEATTLE, Wash. - The DePaul women's tennis team completed day one of the Husky Invite, hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash.
The Blue Demons began the day facing off against the host Huskies in a singles competition. The Huskies were able to sweep the field, defeating all of the DePaul competitors. Valentina Martin was able to secure the only singles win of the day over Meagan Pearson.
DePaul continued the first day with doubles competition, first against Oregon. Valentina Martin and Maddie Yergler won their first match while Hannah Smith and Greta Carbone combined for a win, both defeating their opponents from Oregon.
Yuliya Kizelbasheva and Lenka Antonijevic dropped their first matchup to the Ducks, as did Mayya Perova and Eleanor Nobbs.
The day wrapped up with doubles matches against Washington State. Hannah Smith and Greta Carbone were victorious in their matchup against the Cougars. Mayya Perova and Eleanor Nobbs, as well as Valentina Martin and Maddie Yergler, fell in their final matches of the day to Washington State.
UP NEXT: The Blue Demons will be back in action at 12 p.m. on Saturday as they begin day two of the Husky invite with a singles matchup against Washington State.
