Blue Demons and Huskies tip off at 1 p.m. on ESPN3
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball hits the road for the first time in the 2022-23 regular season with a short trip to DeKalb to take on Northern Illinois on Saturday, Nov. 12. Tip off at the NIU Convention Center is slated for 1 p.m.
The 43rd all-time meeting between the two programs can be seen on ESPN3 with Matt Rodewald and Patricia Babcock-McGraw calling the action while live stats can be followed here.
DePaul (1-0) is coming off a 96-45 rout of American in the season-opener on Wednesday Nov. 9. at Wintrust Arena.
Four Blue Demons finished in double-figures led by preseason All-American Aneesah Morrow who finished with 24 points, 8 rebounds and six steals. Eight of 10 Blue Demons who took the floor netted a least a bucket with Notre Dame transfer Anaya Peoples recording a double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) in her DePaul debut. Darrione Rogers totaled 18 points and senior Keke Rimmer turner in 13 points and a career-high nine rebounds.
As a team, the Blue Demons forced 31 turnovers and collected 23 steals while holding the Eagles to 32.8 percent shooting from the field.
Northern Illinois (0-1) opened the season with an 88-48 loss at No. 9/10 Notre Dame on Monday, Nov. 7. The Huskies gave up 22 turnovers while shooting just 27.5 percent from the field.
Lisa Carlsen, in her eighth season leading the program, welcomes back 10 letterwinners including three starters from a team that went 14-15 and 11-9 in the Mid-American Conference. The Huskies were chosen to finish fourth in the 2022-23 MAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
DePaul holds a 35-7 advantage across the previous 42 meetings and have won 20 in a row against the Huskies including a 103-71 victory on Dec. 16, 2021. In last season's meeting, Rogers posted a team-high 20 points while Morrow recorded a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Saturday's matchup marks the first time the Blue Demons will visit DeKalb since November of 2009.
