
DePaul Drops Three-Set Match to UConn

Blue Demons back in action on Sunday at 12 p.m.
STORRS, Conn. – DePaul volleyball struggled to close out a set as they fell 3-0 to the University of Connecticut Huskies on Saturday afternoon.
Set scores of the match were: 25-20, 25-23, 29-27
DePaul (9-18, 5-10 BIG EAST) was led in kills by Jill Pressly who totaled 16, as Bailey Nelson added nine.
Rachel Krasowski tallied 15 digs in the matinee match while Pressly followed behind with 12.Â
Caylee Parker led the Huskies (15-11, 9-6 BIG EAST) with 16 kills while Karly Berkland added 14 digs.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
Set One:Â UConn jumped out to a 9-7 lead and continued to extend their lead, keeping the Blue Demons at a deficit during the remainder of the match. DePaul was able to get within three points, 18-21, behind a kill by Katelynn Oxley and a UConn service error. The Huskies were able to snag the set one win behind two straight aces and a kill from Caylee Parker.
Set Two: The Huskies started on a 4-0 run to force DePaul to take their first timeout early in set two. The Blue Demons embarked on a 5-0 run to storm back and claim a 12-11 advantage. UConn roared back to tie the match at 20 a piece, and earned the 25-23 win on consecutive kills.Â
Set Three: UConn started out the third set on a 4-1 run, but the Blue Demons were able to fight back. Behind kills from Bailey Nelson, Katelyn Oxley, Jil Pressly and Taylor Underwood, DePaul got within one. The Huskies stretched their lead to 24-20 and had four straight match points, but the Blue Demons went on a 4-0 run to knot the match at 24 each. Both sides traded points, but the Huskies pulled away with the 29-27 win.
