DePaul Falls to No. 11 Creighton on Friday Night

Krasowski eclipses program record for digs in a season (567) in the setback
CHICAGO – DePaul dropped a three-set match (25-27, 14-25, 20-25) to No. 11 Creighton at McGrath-Phillips Arena on Friday night. Despite an early back-and-forth battle in the first set, the Bluejays powered past the Blue Demons in sets two and three to take the match.
DePaul libero Rachel Krasowski collected a match-high 22 digs to eclipse the program record for digs in a season with 567.
Junior outside hitter Jill Pressly led the offense once again with 22 kills to match her season-high go along with 12 digs for her 16th double-double on the 2022 season. Aly Kindelberger added six kills on the right side while Bailey Nelson totaled four.
Setters Maggie Jones and Ashley Cudiamat recorded 16 and 14 assists, respectively.
Norah Sis paced the Bluejays with 12 kills while Ava Martin added 11.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set One: A three-point scoring run saw DePaul take a 13-11 advantage and force a Bluejays timeout. An Oxley kill through middle gave the Blue Demons their largest lead of the set, 17-13. Creighton utilized a five-point spurt of their own to reclaim the lead at 20-19. DePaul went on to stave off two set points, before consecutive points for the Bluejays closed out the set, 27-25.
Set Two: A pair of Pressly kills and a Bluejays attack error allowed DePaul to jump in front 8-5 but the Bluejays answered right back with a 11-3 run to take a 17-11 lead. Creighton went on to take the set 25-14, stifling DePaul to -.079 hitting in the second set.
Set Three: DePaul ran out to an 8-2 lead before Creighton responded to take a 10-9 edge. The Blue Demons would even the score at 14 but the Bluejays took six of the next eight points to pull in front and eventually take the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
Up Next: The Blue Demons will close out their 2022 campaign against Xaiver on Saturday, Nov. 19 at McGrath-Phillips Arena. First serve is set for 6 p.m. with DePaul set to honor senior Bailey Nelson prior to the match.
