
DePaul Takes Oklahoma State to the Wire

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Despite being down as much as 18 in the first half, DePaul men's basketball fought all the way back to take Oklahoma State to the wire, 78-82, Sunday afternoon in the Baha Mar Bahamas Championship.
Eral Penn was the driving force behind the Blue Demons scoring efforts with a season-high 25 points. Penn added 11 boards for his second double-double of the season and third-straight game with double-digit boards.
DePaul (3-2) totaled five double-digit scorers, including Umoja Gibson who notched 17 off of 11 made free throws. It marked Gibson's 10th consecutive game in double-digits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Oklahoma State (3-2) jumped out to an early 17-3 lead before DePaul fired off seven-straight points, pulling within single digits. Ahamad Bynum was a spark off the bench with a quick five after entering the game. Oklahoma State kept their lead around 11 most of the first half, thanks to 11 made free throws. Philmon Gebrewhit sunk a late three-pointer, cutting the deficit to eight going into halftime.
DePaul carried its momentum into the second half, coming out on a 6-0 run and cutting the game to two points. DePaul took its first lead of the game behind solid free throw shooting from Gibson and a layup from Da'Sean Nelson.
