
DePaul Makes Trip to Northwestern

Blue Demons face second Chicago area opponent in two weeks
EVANSTON, ILL. – The DePaul men's basketball team takes the trip north of the city to Evanston for a matchup against Northwestern, Saturday afternoon. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. CT tip off on Big Ten Network. Cory Provus and Stephen Bardo will have the call on BTN, while Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will air on the radio broadcast on DePaulBlueDemons.com.
Saturday's game marks the first meeting between the two programs since 2019 and DePaul's second road game against Chicagoland schools this season.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul (6-5, 0-1 BIG EAST) is coming off a tough road loss to Duquesne earlier in the week. Javan Johnson once again led the Blue Demons scoring efforts, with a game-high 19 points. Johnson has led DePaul in scoring six times this season. The senior also leads the BIG EAST and ranks top-30 nationally in three-point percentage.
As a team DePaul had a season-high 92.7 free throw percentage at Duquesne, making 13 of 14 attempts. The Blue Demons come into Saturday's game as one of the best free throw shooting teams in the country, ranking ninth nationally with a 79.4 percentage. Individually, Umoja Gibson is shooting at a 91.8 clip from the free throw line, leading the BIG EAST and ranking 12th nationally.
THE SERIES
Separated by just over 10 miles, the pair of teams are set to face off in the 36th all-time meeting. DePaul leads the all-time series, 21-14, including the last matchup played in 2019. The Blue Demons won the 2019 meeting inside Wintrust Arena, 83-78, where Jaylen Butz was awarded the Waldo Fisher-Frank McGrath MVP Award after a 24-point performance. Northwestern holds the 11-6 advantage in Evanston.

Northwestern (7-2, 1-0 Big Ten) enters Saturday's game following back-to-back wins against #20 Michigan State and Prairie View A&M. The Wildcats are led by senior Boo Buie who is scoring a team-high 13.6 points and 4.6 assists per game. Additionally, Chase Audige ranks 14th nationally in steals per game (2.56). The team has been boosted this season by its strong defense, holding opponents to an average of 56.8 points per game.
