DePaul Drops Game at Northwestern

EVANSTON, ILL. – A short-handed DePaul men's basketball team could not find an answer against Northwestern Saturday afternoon as the Wildcats took an 83-45 win.
Philmon Gebrewhit and Eral Penn led DePaul (6-6, 0-1 BIG EAST) with 11 points on the day. Gebrewhit was 2-of-3 from three-point range while Penn finished the night 5-of-9 with six boards. Northwestern's (8-2, 1-0 Big Ten) Chase Audige won the McGrath-Fisher Award, given to the MVP of the Northwestern/DePaul game. Audige finished with 28 points on 6-of-10 shooting from three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Northwestern opened to a 22-5 lead in the first half, taking advantage of four DePaul turnovers. The Wildcats shooting cooled off as DePaul took advantage with three-straight treys, cutting Northwestern's lead to eight. Northwestern led 39-26 at halftime and DePaul could not find a second half answer as Northwestern scored the first nine points of the half.

DePaul has a nine-day stretch without a game as the team looks to get prepared for a Christmas Day meeting with Creighton. The game is slated for a 3 p.m. CT tip from Omaha and will be broadcast on Fox.

- Umoja Gibson finished the game with 10 points, marking his 95th career-game in double-digit scoring. Gibson also added a team-high three assists.
- Da'Sean Nelson tied his personal-best nine rebounds.
- Saturday was Penn's third-straight game with 10 or more points. He also tied a season-best three blocks.
- K.T. Raimey grabbed a personal-best three rebounds.
