
DePaul Meets Loyola for Crosstown Matchup

The two teams return to action after renewing the series last year
CHICAGO – After renewing the series last season, DePaul men's basketball meets Loyola for the second-straight year Saturday afternoon. The 57th all-time meeting between the two programs tips off at 3 p.m. CT on NBC Sports Chicago+ and can be heard live on WSCR – 670 AM The Score.
DePaul (4-3) is coming off a high-energy, fast paced game against Samford Wednesday where the Blue Demons posted a season-high 103 points in the overtime victory. DePaul tallied 18 three-pointers which marked the most for a DePaul team since at least 1995-96. Johnson continued his stellar campaign with a career-high 28 points which came on 6-of-8 shooting from three.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
Johnson and Umoja Gibson have served as a dynamic duo for the Blue Demons through the first month of the season. The duo is averaging 17.1 and 16.6 points per game, respectively, making them one of the top scoring duos in the BIG EAST.
Gibson has made himself known as a quality playmaker, averaging over seven assists a game. The graduate transfer ranks seventh in the nation in assists/game and has recorded five or more in six of the team's seven games this season.
Johnson is shooting a team-best 45.9 from the floor and 42.9 percent from three while also averaging 5.7 rebounds per game. The senior leads the BIG EAST in three-point percentage and is fourth in three-pointers per game.

Dating back to 1923, DePaul leads the all-time series 38-19 which includes an 11-6 advantage on the road against the Ramblers. Loyola has won the last two meetings, including a 68-64 win in Wintrust Arena last season.
SCOUTING LOYOLA
Loyola (3-4) picked up their third win of the season Wednesday against Central Arkansas, halting a four-game skid. The Ramblers are led by Philip Alston averaging 13.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Drew Valentine is in his second season at the helm of the Rambler program, after leading Loyola to a 25-8 record and NCAA Tournament appearance last season.
