Sarah Lehman Tabbed to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
CHICAGO -- After helping the Blue Demons to a perfect 4-0 start to the 2022 season, sophomore Nicole Sullivan has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Graduate pitcher Sarah Lehman has been selected to the weekly honor roll after a pair of stellar performances in the circle.
Sullivan was outstanding from behind the plate, going five-for-11 across four games for an average of .455. The Cedar, Rapids Iowa native totaled a team-high seven RBI on the weekend including five in a win over St. Thomas. Sullivan launched the second grand slam of her career in the 8-3 win over the Tommies. Sullivan crossed the plate four times on the weekend while also maintaining a perfect fielding percentage on eight chances at third base.
Monday marks the second time Sullivan has earned conference player of the week honors after earning player and freshman accolades in the same week on April 19, 2021.
Lehman made her DePaul debut an impactful one, picking up two wins in the circle while striking out 15 on a pair of complete games. In an 8-0 five-inning win over Valparaiso, the Iowa transfer allowed just three hits and just three runners to reach base while striking out four in the complete-game shutout. Against St. Thomas, Lehman tossed a career-high 11 strikeouts while allowing three earned-runs on four hits. The right-hander from Iowa City, Iowa boasts a 1.75 ERA through 12 innings of action this season.
The Blue Demons will head west to San Diego, Calif. Feb. 18-19 for the San Diego Classic. The second weekend of the season will kick off against Iowa at 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday evening.
