Junior outfielder earns third weekly recognition of the season
CHICAGO — DePaul junior outfielder Tori Meyer has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season after putting together a solid series performance in the last weekend of the regular season.
Meyer batted a team-best .364 in a 2-1 series victory over Providence with four hits, three for an extra-base, and four RBI. In DePaul's 5-4 10-inning series finale win on Sunday afternoon, Meyer went 3-for-4 with a two-RBI triple in the first inning and the game-tying RBI-double in the sixth inning to eventually send the game into extra innings. The Barrington, Ill. native added a base hit in Friday's 8-4 setback in game two of the doubleheader.
In 24 BIG EAST games, Meyer owned a .389 batting average while totaling 28 hits and driving in 18 runs. The right fielder corralled 22 putouts, went 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts and scored 21 runs.
The Blue Demons are the No. 4 seed in the 2022 BIG EAST Championship and will serve as the host in Rosemont, Ill. May 12-14. Action at the Ballpark at Rosemont is set to get underway when DePaul meets top-seeded Connecticut at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday.
