The Chicago native will join the Blue Demons after one season at Pitt
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer has announced the signing of Cade Hagan, a transfer from Pitt. Hagan, a Chicago native, will return to Chicago with a track record of success in both the midwest and international scene at a variety of youth levels.
"Cade will be a fantastic addition to our program," said head coach Mark Plotkin. "He brings a wealth of experience from his time competing with the US Youth National Team and his time in Spain training in a professional environment."
Hagan attended Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Ill. and competed with Sockers FC in Chicago for three seasons. Hagan played up a year with Sockers, helping the squad advance to the Final Four of the USSDA National Championship. Hagan also played in Europe, spending time with Sporting Gijon in Spain on the team's reserve squad. Additionally, the Chicago footballer also competed with the USA U15 team and started multiple matches against international powers Brazil and England.
Hagan, who was slotted at forward in Pittsburgh as a freshman, played in three games last fall. He made his collegiate debut and played 21 minutes versus Cleveland State on Oct. 5.
"Cade brings valuable NCAA Tournament experience to our group and his quality in the final third will be a big factor in our goal of reaching the NCAA Tournament," said Plotkin.
Plotkin also stressed the importance of the connections Hagan has with current Blue Demons due to their time crossing paths in the Chicago clubs soccer scene.
"Cade has maintained relationships with guys in our program from his time with Sockers FC and that familiarity will allow for a smooth transition into our team culture," said Plotkin.
After posting a 7-7-3 record last fall, the best mark of the Plotkin era thus far, the Blue Demons will kick off the 2022 season in August. Hagan will be one of 11 newcomers in Lincoln Park this fall.
