Huck advances to championship
MILWAUKEE, Wis./ RIVER FOREST, Ill. – DePaul Men's Tennis started their competition in two different tournaments today, The River Forest Invitational and the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.Â
Sophomore Marino Jakic ended his run at the River Forest Invitational after trailing to #2 Evan Fragistas from VCU (6-4, 1-6, 1-0). However, newcomer Alesksa Krivokapic will advance in the men's consolation draw and play Jared Pratt from Wisconsin after defeating Alvaro Huete from Butler, (7-6(3), 3-6, 10-5).
#1 Singles Sven Moser won his first set, (6-7 (5), 6-3(10-6)), but fell to ISU in the second round, (6-4, 6-4). He will advance tomorrow to battle it out for fifth place.Â
#2 Singles Leon Huck defeated both his opponents today. He dominated his first match against ISU's Melker Vollbach (6-4, 6-4) and then won his second match (6-1, 7-5). Huck will advance to the championship.Â
#3 Singles Gitschel, won his first match against EIU but was defeated by ISU in the next round. Gitschel will continue playing tomorrow for 3rd place. Â
#4 Singles Lars Minsaas lost his first match of the day and he will continue his second match against EIU tomorrow after the doubles match, in a super tiebreaker for the third set.Â
DePaul's first doubles team Huck/Gitschel will move onto the semis tomorrow and second doubles team Moser/Minsaas will play NIU.Â
