Men’s Basketball to Host Marian for Exhibition on Nov. 1

Blue Demons welcome Drake Diener and the Sabres to Wintrust Arena for final preseason tuneup
CHICAGO – The DePaul men's basketball program will begin the 2022-23 season with an exhibition matchup against Marian University at Wintrust Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Tipoff against the Sabres is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the contest open to the public and ticketed for fans.
DePaul, led by second-year head coach Tony Stubblefield, is coming off 2021-22 season that saw the Blue Demons amass an overall record of 15-16. Stubblefield and his staff welcome back eight returners while bringing in seven newcomers to the squad.
Marian, located in Fond du Lac, Wis., is coached by former Blue Demon Drake Diener who in his fifth season leading the Sabres program. In 2021-22, Marian went 19-9 en route to a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) title and trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Diener suited up for DePaul from 2001-05 and finished his career as the programs all-time leader in free throw percentage, three-point field goals and three-point field goal attempts. His three-point field goals (216 3FG) and free throw percentage (.873 - 192-220) records still stand and he's currently 33rd all-time with 1,208 career points.
The Blue Demons will open the regular season on Monday, Nov. 7 when Loyola Maryland visits Wintrust Arena.
