Blue Demons Held Off by Bears

WACO, Texas – The DePaul women's tennis team fell to the Baylor Bears 4-3 on Monday evening.

The Blue Demons picked up the early 1-0 lead after Greta Carbone and Hannah Smith won the decisive doubles matchup against Baylor's Daniella Dimitrove and Danielle Tuhren 7-6 (8-6).

Headed into the singles competition, DePaul found themselves down 3-1 but battled back behind wins from Lenka Antonijevic and Valentina Martin.

Following Antonijevic and Martin's wins, the match was tied at 3-3. The winning point came down to the No. 2 singles matchup between Hannah Smith and Sahdiieva. Sahdiieva pulled out the win 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 6-2.

UP NEXT: The Blue Demons will be back in action on Feb. 3 against Purdue. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. CT in West Lafayette, Ind.
