Blue Demons blanked by Boilermakers
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The DePaul women's tennis team dropped its first match of the weekend with a 4-0 setback against Purdue.
The Boilermakers jumped out to an early lead after earning the doubles point when they defeated Smith/Carbone and Yergeler/Martin, 6-3.
Yuliya Kizelbasheva and Lenka Antonijevic were leading their doubles matchup, 5-4, before the suspension of doubles play.
Prior to suspension of the match, Eleanor Nobbs earned a 6-4 win in her first set and was leading her second set, 3-0, against Csilla Fodor. Fodor ended the 2021-22 season ranked No. 116 in the ITA rankings.
Valentina Martin grabbed a 6-2 win in her first set against Tara Katarina Milic. Martin and Milic were tied 4-4 before their match was suspended after the Boilermakers grabbed the win.
UP NEXT: The DePaul women's tennis team stays in West Lafayette, Ind. to take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes in a neutral site matchup, Saturday, Feb. 4. The match will begin at 10 a.m. CT.
