
DePaul Turns Focus to #24/23 UConn Tuesday Night

Blue Demons set for third game in seven days
CHICAGO – The DePaul men's basketball team quickly turns its attention to a Tuesday evening matchup against No. 24/23 UConn. The game, set for 7 p.m. CT, is set to air on FS1 with Brandon Gaudin and LaVall Jordan on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio broadcast on DePaulBlueDemons.com.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
Tuesday's game marks the fourth ranked opponent in the last five games for DePaul (9-13, 3-8 BIG EAST). The Blue Demons picked up their lone ranked win of the season with a 73-72 win against #8 Xavier that opened this stretch of top-25 foes. In that game, DePaul shot 45 percent from three-point range while holding one of the nation's best field goal percentage teams to 38 percent.
Umoja Gibson continues to be a steady workhorse for the Blue Demons, averaging 16.2 points and 4.9 assists per game. Gibson has scored in double-digits in 20 of DePaul's 22 games this season, including 11-straight. The graduate transfer has back-to-back games of 24 and 25 points and leads the BIG EAST with 42.0 percent shooting from three-point range.
THE SERIES
UConn has a firm control of the series with a 15-1 record against DePaul. The Blue Demons lone win against UConn came Jan. 31, 2007 in a 66-58 win in Allstate Arena. Draelon Burns scored a career-high 26 points in the win over 15 years ago.
SCOUTING UCONN
Both DePaul and UConn have dropped four out of their last five BIG EAST games, against some of the top teams in the league. UConn picked up a win against Butler last week to sit at 5-6 in the BIG EAST. The Huskies have been led by the scoring efforts of Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins who average 16.9 and 16.1 points per game, respectively. Hawins ranks second in the conference in three-point percentage, behind DePaul's Gibson.
UConn's strength this season has been its rebounding efforts as they rank eighth nationally with a 7.9 rebound margin and 31st with 38.86 rebounds per game.
