Carbone and Smith Advance to Doubles Quarterfinals to Highlight ITA Midwest Regionals

EAST LANSING, Mich. – DePaul women's tennis wrapped up their time at the ITA Midwest Regionals on Sunday, Oct. 15. The Blue Demons stay at the Michigan State Indoor Tennis Facility was highlighted by Greta Carbone and Hannah Smith's run to the quarterfinals in the doubles draw.

Additionally, three Blue Demons competed in the singles main draw after Smith and Sasha Stula advanced from the qualifying rounds. Junior Eleanor Nobbs received DePaul's automatic qualifier into the main draw.

The duo of Carbone/Smith moved to 9-3 this fall after taking down pairs from Wisconsin, Eastern Michigan and Notre Dame. In the Quarterfinals, the Blue Demons were up 4-1 heading into the sixth game, but eventually fell 8-7 (7-5) in the tiebreak.

Stula had a strong showing, winning a pair of matches in straight sets, to advance to the main draw while teaming up with Eva Goncharov to claim a doubles victory over a duo from Michigan State.

Emily Casati and doubles partner Nobbs also won their first round match over Feldman/Rabjohns of Northwestern, 8-7 (7-5).

Up Next: The Blue Demons will close out the fall portion of their schedule Nov. 3-5 at the Michigan State Hidden Dual.
