
DePaul Welcomes Lewis to Wintrust Arena Sunday for Exhibition Matchup

Blue Demons and Flyers tipoff at 4 p.m.
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball welcomes Division II Lewis University to Wintrust Arena on Sunday, Oct. 29 for its second of two exhibitions this preseason. Tipoff from Doug Bruno Court is slated for 4 p.m. There is no live streaming available for the matchup, but live stats are available here. Fans can purchase tickets starting at $10 here.
Preseason Prospectus
The Blue Demons and Flyers have previously squared off against Lewis in preseason exhibitions in years past, most recently in November of 2021 at Wintrust Arena. The two sides also met prior to the 2015-16 season at McGrath-Phillips Arena.

Preseason Prospectus
- The Blue Demons enter the 2023-24 a new look team after Coach Doug Bruno and his staff welcomed in eight newcomers in the offseason.
- DePaul returns a pair of starters from a season ago in graduate students Anaya Peoples and Jorie Allen. Peoples was selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the conference's basketball media day.
- In 2022-23, Peoples reached double figures in 19 games while ranking third on the squad in scoring (9.5 ppg) and finishing second in assists with 2.9 per game.
- Allen will look to lead the frontcourt after making 25 starts and averaging 6.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season.
- The Blue Demons have one of the most veteran rosters in the country heading into the 2023-24 season, with six student-athletes (Katlyn Gilbert, Brynn Masikewich, Jade Edwards, Anaya Peoples, Michele Sidor, and Jorie Allen) entering at least their fifth season on a collegiate basketball roster.
- Earlier in the preseason, DePaul took part in a historic charity exhibition matchup at Iowa. The Blue Demons and Hawkeyes played in front of a women's basketball record – 55,646 fans at Kinnick Stadium on Oct. 15. The event raised over $250,000 for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
- Peoples led the scoring effort against the reigning national runners-up with 19 points while Maeve McErlane totaled 14 points and Michelle Sidor rounded out the Blue Demons in double figures with 13.
- McErlane, a sophomore guard out of Philadelphia, stuffed the stat sheet with a team-high seven rebounds to go with four assists.
- The Blue Demons will face another tough schedule, meeting at least 12 teams that finished in the top 100 in 2022-23's final NET rankings including Elite Eight participants Miami and Louisville.
- Bruno enters his 38th season leading the women's basketball program at his alma mater, earning 774 victories through his Hall of Fame tenure. His win total ranks seventh amongst active Division I women's coaches.
- DePaul is celebrating its 50th varsity season of women's basketball in 2023-24.
- The Flyers were picked to win the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) in the preseason coaches' poll, earning eight first place votes.
- Lewis returns four All-GLVC selections from 2022-23 led by senior forward Kathryn Schmidt who averaged a team-high in points (15.6 ppg) and rebounds (8.7 rpg).
- A season ago, Lewis went 22-11 on the season and 15-5 in league action while finishing runner-up in the GLVC conference tournament. The Flyers made an appearance in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regionals, an 11-point loss to Drury.
- Head coach Keisha Newell is in her second season leading the program in Romeoville.
