SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul looks to get back on track after opening the season 0-2. The Blue Demons nearly overcame a 22-point deficit against Long Beach State, Saturday evening, shooting 58.8 percent as a team in the second-half. The game was a breakout and showcase of the young Blue Demons talent as Elijah Fisher and Churchill Abass both impressed off the bench.
Fisher posted a 25-point game, the first double-digit scoring performance of his career, on 10-of-14 shooting. The sophomore's performance included 20 second-half points. Freshman Churchill Abass posted four blocks, the most by a DePaul freshman since Nick Ongenda against Xavier, Feb. 25, 2020.
As a team, the Blue Demons rank 36th nationally and fourth in the BIG EAST in blocks per game and are among the top-100 in fastbreak points.
THE SERIES
After facing two first-time opponents to open the season, DePaul will play South Dakota for just the second time in program history. The two teams have not met since 1938. Tuesday marks the first-ever meeting in Chicago after DePaul won 37-35 in Vermillion.
