
DePaul Hosts Northern Illinois Saturday Night

CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball returns to Wintrust Arena as they host in-state foe, Northern Illinois, Saturday night. The Blue Demons tip off at 8 p.m. on FS2 with Matt Schumacker and Lavall Jordan on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio call on 670 The Score and DePaulBlueDemons.com.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul looks to get back on track after a pair of games in Glendale, Ariz. at the Arizona Tipoff against South Carolina and San Francisco. Chico Carter Jr. was the bright spot for DePaul in the desert as he earned All-Tournament honors after averaging 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists across the two games on 52 percent shooting. The graduate student is shooting 7-of-14 from three-point range across his last three games.
The Blue Demons defensive efforts so far this season have been highlighted by their rim protection, as DePaul ranks top-50 nationally with 25 blocks across five games played. Churchill Abass has a total of 10 blocks, putting him among the nation's best freshmen. As a team, 10 of DePaul's 11 players who have seen minutes this season have recorded at least one block.
THE SERIES
DePaul leads the all-time series, 26-6, as Saturday marks the first meeting between the two programs since 2014. The Blue Demons have won the last four consecutive meetings, however, three of the last four games have been decided by single digits.
SCOUTING NORTHERN ILLINOIS
Northern Illinois is off to a hot 4-1 start, their best start since the 2015-16 season. The Huskies are led by DePaul alum, Rashon Burno, who is in his third season with the program.
NIU is led by David Coit who is averaging 18.2 points and 4.6 assists per game. As a team, the Huskies have five different players averaging double-digit scoring efforts. Northern Illinois ranks 11th nationally with 28.4 free throw attempts per game and is also top-50 nationally in fastbreak points, field goal percentage and rebounds per game.

DePaul turns its attention to a packed December schedule, that begins with the BIG EAST-Big 12 Challenge matchup against Iowa State, Dec. 1. The game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. tip off on FS1.
