CHICAGO – Despite four double-digit scorers, the DePaul men's basketball team fell, 89-79, in a hard-fought matchup against Northern Illinois, Saturday evening. Da'Sean Nelson had a team-best 23 points while Elijah Fisher followed with 16 points on 7-of-11 from the floor, for his second career double-digit scoring game. Fisher also contributed a team-best seven rebounds, a career-high.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Northern Illinois opened the game shooting 2-of-7, before eventually hitting their stride and pulling out to a nine-point lead on four made three-pointers by David Coit. DePaul quickly answered back, pulling within two, 24-22, on back-to-back three-pointers from Carter Jr. and Jaden Henley. After Henley tied the game at 24, the teams entered a back-and-forth battle before Northern Illinois ended the half on a 7-0 run.
DePaul opened the second half struggling to find its shot, as Northern Illinois continued to grow its lead to as much as 24. Three minutes into the second period, DePaul shot 8-of-their last 10, pulling the game within 13, 65-52. The Blue Demons offense looked to click as they went on a 8-3 run that brought NIU's lead down to just eight points, 70-62. DePaul wouldn't be able to inch any closer to taking the advantage, as NIU took their fifth-straight victory.
