DePaul Welcomes #25 Northwestern for Cross-Town Contest

CHICAGO – In a local Chicago-area showdown, the DePaul men's basketball team is set to welcome Northwestern into Wintrust Arena, Saturday, Dec. 16. The game is slated for a 4:30 p.m. CT tip on FS1 with Jeff Levering and Lavall Jordan on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio broadcast for DePaul on 670 The Score and the DePaul Blue Demons App.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul (2-7) is fresh off a 75-68 win last Saturday against Louisville where the Blue Demons had its second-consecutive game shooting above 50 percent from the floor as a team. DePaul had four double-digit scorers against Louisville, including a game-high 22 points from Jeremiah Oden on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. Chico Carter Jr. earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll accolades after averaging 17.5 points and six assists against #21 Texas A&M and Louisville.
The Blue Demons enter Saturday's game ranking 36th nationally and second in the BIG EAST with a team 38.5 percent shooting from three-point range. DePaul has four players shooting above 30 percent from three, including Oden who is 18-of-35 (.514) on the season. Carter Jr. enters Saturday's contest with the highest career three-point percentage of all active Division 1 players, shooting 44.1 percent over his career.
THE SERIES
DePaul leads the all-time series 21-15, including a 15-3 record against Northwestern while playing at home. The last six meetings, however, have favored Northwestern with the Wildcats having a 5-1 record since 2016 against the Blue Demons. DePaul won the 2019 meeting inside Wintrust Arena, 83-78.
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN
Northwestern faces its second-straight Chicago area opponent, after dropping a midweek contest to Chicago State on Wednesday. Despite the loss, Northwestern still holds a 7-2 record including a win against then-No. 1 Purdue on Dec. 1.
The Wildcats currently rank third nationally in fewest turnovers per game (8.6) and fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.03). Boo Buie ranks 42nd nationally with 5.1 assists per game, while also scoring 18.9 points per game. Wednesday marks Northwestern's first true road game of the season.

DePaul turns its attention next week to its first conference game, as the Blue Demons host Villanova, Dec. 23. The game is slated for a 3 p.m. tip on FS1.
