DePaul Concludes Non-Conference Action Saturday

CHICAGO – DePaul men's basketball concludes its non-conference slate with a matchup against Chicago State, Saturday, Dec. 30. The cross-town matchup is slated to tip off at 3 p.m. CT. Matt Schumacker and Lavall Jordan have the call on FS1, while Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine have the radio broadcast on 670 The Score.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul (2-9, 0-1 BIG EAST) looks to pick up one final non-conference win before the calendar turns to BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons opened BIG EAST play last Saturday with a loss against Villanova. In that game, DePaul had three players register 11 points.
The Blue Demons currently boast one of the strongest schedules in the country, currently ranking eighth nationally and leading the BIG EAST. DePaul's non-conference opponents have a 68.9 win percentage this season.
DePaul looks to get its three-point shooting back on track, after ranking 30th nationally in three-point percentage through the team's first nine games of the season. Chico Carter Jr. remains among the nation's active career three-point percentage leaders.
THE SERIES
Saturday marks the first meeting between DePaul and Chicago State since 2018 where DePaul won 104-70. The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 16-0, with 14 of the 16 matchups coming at home.
SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE
Chicago State enters Saturday's game with a 7-11 record, coming off back-to-back losses after a string of four-straight wins. Saturday will be the Cougars third game this season against a Chicago school, as they previously lost to Loyola-Chicago before defeating then-No. 25 Northwestern on Dec. 13. Chicago State's win over Northwestern was the first victory against the Wildcats in program history.
Wesley Cardet Jr. leads Chicago State with 18.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 44.5 percent on the year. Cardet leads thee nation in total points (339) and is 51st in points per game. As a team, Chicago State is 30th nationally with 9.3 steals per game. The Cougars are led by third-year head coach, Gerald Gillion. Last season, Gillion led Chicago State to its most wins since 2013-14.

DePaul returns in the new year with a matchup against reigning NCAA Champions, UConn, in Storrs, Conn. on Jan. 2. The game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. CT tip off on FS1.
