Blue Demons Host St. John's For Billy Blue Demon Night

CHICAGO – The DePaul men's basketball team returns home, Tuesday, Feb. 14, for an 8 p.m. matchup against St. John's, sponsored by Bumble. The Blue Demons first home game in nearly two weeks will air on FS1 with Brandon Gaudin and Devin Harris on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio call on WSCR 670 The Score.
Tuesday's game is highlighted as 'Billy Blue Demon Night' with the debut of DePaul's throwback jerseys, inspired by teams from the 70s and 80s.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul (9-16, 3-11 BIG EAST) enters Tuesday in a six-game skid, including a road loss at Villanova. The Wildcats ended the game on a run for the 81-65 victory, however, the game featured three ties and 11 lead changes. Umoja Gibson and Javan Johnson each scored a game-high 18 points. Gibson eclipsed 2,000 career points in the game, becoming the 20th active Division 1 player to do so.
Gibson ranks second in the BIG EAST in three-point percentage and leads the league in steals.
THE SERIES
St. John's leads the all-time series, 30-22, including the last two meetings. DePaul, however, holds an 11-8 advantage in games played at home. The two teams opened BIG EAST play against each other over two months ago as St. John's won, 86-67. The Blue Demons played the game with only nine available players, missing both Yor Anei and Nick Ongenda. Zion Cruz led the team with a career-high 14 points.

St. John's snapped a three-game skid Saturday with a 73-68 home win against Providence. The Red Storm are 11-4 this season at home and 1-7 on the road. Joel Soriano continues to lead St. John's with a team-best 15.2 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. He leads all Division 1 players nationally with 20 double-doubles this season.
As a team, the Red Storm ranks 14th nationally in fast break points and 18th in rebounds per game.
