DePaul begins month which includes four of its six games on the road
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Following a month that included six home games, the DePaul men's basketball team begins a road-heavy February with a trip to Seton Hall. The Blue Demons will take on the Pirates Sunday, Feb. 5 in an 11 a.m. CT tip on FS1. John Fanta and Vin Parise have the call on Fox Sports with Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine on WSCR 670 The Score.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul (9-14, 3-9 BIG EAST) looks to put the month of January behind them, after facing four ranked opponents. The Blue Demons last win came Jan. 18 against then-No. 8 Xavier, in what was just DePaul's third top-10 win since 2007.
Umoja Gibson continues to be a key contributor for the Blue Demons. Gibson has scored in double-digits in 20 of the team's 23 games this season, including back-to-back 20+ point performances against Georgetown and Marquette. Gibson currently leads the BIG EAST in three point percentage as DePaul ranks second in the league as a team, shooting 36.2 percent.
Da'Sean Nelson has made a run at one of the top sixth men in the league. Nelson leads all BIG EAST players who come off the bench in scoring and rebounding in conference games.
THE SERIES
Seton Hall leads the series, 22-9, including a 71-67 win against DePaul in Chicago earlier this season. DePaul saw five players record double-digit points in the first meeting, but was unable to secure a late stop against Seton Hall.
The team's split a pair of meetings last season with the last 10 meetings between the two teams being decided by single-digits.
SETON HALL
Seton Hall (14-9, 7-5 BIG EAST) holds steady in the BIG EAST standings, winning six of its last seven games. The Pirates are 8-3 at home including conference wins against UConn and St. John's. Seton Hall leads the BIG EAST in bench points, averaging nearly 24 points a game from its reserves.
Kadary Richmond has been a driving force behind Seton Hall's success, averaging 12.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists in BIG EAST play. Richmond is one of three Pirates averaging double-digit scoring on the season.
