Guard from Upper Saddle River, N.J. joins Blue Demons with two years of eligibility remaining
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball head coach Doug Bruno announced the signing of transfer guard Michelle Sidor to the program on Wednesday afternoon.
Sidor, a 5-9 guard from Upper Saddle River, N.J., spent four seasons at the University of Michigan and has two seasons of eligibility remaining. While in Ann Arbor, Sidor appeared in 68 games while making six starts.
"DePaul recruited Michelle very hard out of high school as a 3,000-point New Jersey Prep scorer and Michelle's game is made for our DePaul Ball running style," said Bruno. "While Michelle can knock down the three, facilitation and floor leadership are the most important ingredients Michelle will bring to our program."
Named a four-star recruit by ESPN coming out of Saddle River Day, Sidor ranks second all-time in scoring in New Jersey girls basketball history with 3,268 points. She is just the fourth player in the state's history to reach the 3,000-point mark while leading her team to four-consecutive Bergen County Championships. Sidor scored in double figures in every game of her high school career and was a McDonald's All-America game nominee.
"I chose DePaul because their on-court style fit me perfectly as a player and I really clicked with the coaching staff and the team on my visit" Sidor said. "I'm looking forward to making an immediate impact on the program on and off the floor. The goal is always to win championships and build each year and individually I'm looking forward to doing whatever the team needs me to do to help accomplish that."
Sidor will graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and plans to enroll in the Sports, Fitness and Recreational Leadership program at DePaul beginning this summer.
