McKeown comes to Lincoln Park with over a decade of experience
CHICAGO – Former St. Thomas assistant coach Peter McKeown officially joins the DePaul women's soccer staff, as announced by head coach Michele O'Brien on Wednesday afternoon. McKeown comes to Lincoln Park with over a decade of training experience.Â
Â"We are really excited for Peter to be a part of our team and athletic department," said O'Brien. "He has a strong playing background, and a lot of experience coaching at many different levels and in different environments, along with being a great human being. With all of his experiences as a player, coach and in life, I believe he will add a ton of value to our program."
ÂDuring his time at St. Thomas, McKeown served as the goalkeeper coach, leading goalkeeper development and training through the fall and the spring during the University's first two seasons as a D1 program.Â
Â"It is an honor to be welcomed into DePaul," said McKeown. "Michele and Rachel have a great foundation set in this program -- I'm excited to be able to learn alongside them and help the Goalkeepers in their football journeys. There are a lot of new faces this year and a ton of positive energy already in the first few days – there is no limit for this group!"
ÂMcKeown makes the trek back to Chicago after graduating from Loyola-Chicago In 2012 where he served as the team's 4-year starting goalkeeper. During his time at Loyola, McKeown was named the MVP of 2011 Horizon League Championship and aided in his team's NCAA appearance.Â
ÂAfter he graduated from Loyola, McKeown went on to play soccer for Chicago Inferno where he was the starting goalkeeper for half the season until he was injured. McKeown went on to coach a multitude of levels and programs including high school and club before joining the St. Thomas staff.Â
